Chair of Starling Bank David Sproul joins climate change platform SKOOT
Deloitte’s former Deputy Global CEO welcomed to B-CORP as a board advisor and investor
SKOOT, the platform for positive Climate Change that helps businesses, individuals and communities achieve their Net Zero targets, has today announced the appointment of David Sproul as Board Advisor and Investor.
The former Global Deputy CEO of Deloitte and current Chair of Starling Bank will help advise the start-up in their run-up to Series A following raising £4m in seed funding.
The B-Corp carbon-negative business identifies your carbon footprint and crucially provides both the solutions to offset your climate impact and tools to avoid carbon emissions. In just 16 months, SKOOT has offset and avoided over 1,000 tonnes of CO2, planted 230,000 trees and enabled users to drive, carbon free, over 350,000 miles via the SKOOT app.
On the appointment, Greg Gormley, CEO said, “David’s passion and focus on driving and accelerating global ESG growth and his transformational expertise, was something that we felt we could learn from and utilise for SKOOT, but more importantly his understanding of the challenges and solutions businesses need today is invaluable.”
David Sproul, added, “I’m passionate about using my experience to advise businesses on climate change, and when I met the team at SKOOT, it felt like the perfect partnership. SKOOT is a relatively new business that has already demonstrated its ability to evolve and scale quickly and I’m joining a business that’s not only dynamic, but that also has the ambition to be a major force for good, cemented by its recent B-Corp accreditation.”
