How is the launch in the Nordic and Baltic states going?

So far we have launched in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Latvia, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and the feedback from fans has been incredible. It is exciting for us to see our platform grow and be enjoyed by the very people we designed it for - the ultimate music fan. Feedback has been excellent and we are using this to continuously improve the platform and the content available to our subscribers. Understanding what content fans are enjoying and what functionalities help with the viewing experience, supports us to develop the Staccs platform and grow it into the global home for concerts on demand.

Sum up what your company/product does in one sentence

Staccs is a premium streaming on-demand service for filmed music concerts and music documentaries - built for the ultimate music fan.

What makes it unique?

Operating as a premium-streaming platform, the tech is the first thing users engage with and therefore has to be as state-of-the-art as possible. We have a team of developers that are constantly innovating our platform to ensure functionalities and features allow for a seamless user experience and provide them with the best way to enjoy our content in the highest quality possible.

However, it’s the content which is one of the main driving factors in making Staccs special. Our platform is designed for and aimed at the ultimate music fan. Currently we offer the latest and most popular concerts, gigs, and documentaries, on demand, across many genres of music - including rock and pop. It’s all available in one place.

Also, for the industry our user-centric model is a USP of the platform. The platform offers artists and rights holders a new revenue stream to market classic video content. This user-centric model will see Staccs divide each fan’s subscription fee only between the rights holders for the video content they’ve watched, rather than the traditional pay-per-play models used by other services which sees subscription fees divided up by overall streams on the entire platform. If a fan only watches one particular artist, then that artist’s earnings will be benefited by that fan’s subscription fee.

Who is your product for and why?

Our audience is very simple to understand. We created Staccs for the people who love music and want to relive the magic of a live concert. We have developed a platform that allows the everyday music fan to watch those special moments, on demand and anywhere. Coming from a music background and being a fan myself, I understand how much it means for music lovers to relive an unforgettable concert moment.

What are your future plans?

With our DNA rooted in music, our ambition remains the same - to become the global home of legendary concerts, on demand. Staccs was created for the music fan in mind, to provide a platform for everyone to relive their favourite concert moments. As a forward-thinking media company, we will be looking to launch Staccs across more countries beyond the Nordics and Baltic region. From a tech perspective, we will look to evolve the platform as we continue to grow. There will be no compromise on the quality of content streamed, so that the fan can truly enjoy their favourite concerts in the best way possible.

When will you be launching in the UK?

There are plans in the making to launch in the UK in the near future. Our aim is to become a global entertainment platform for music fans everywhere, in which they can relive their most memorable concert moments.

Given we are a Swedish startup, we have launched across the Nordics and the Baltic states first. Details of a further rollout of our product will be shared later. While we don’t have an exact date for a UK launch, we’re working very hard to ensure our platform provides the highest quality content possible so that once fans do have access to it, they can enjoy the content in the best way possible. Sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know when we go live in the UK and also keep an eye on our social media channels.

Which artists and content will you be able to stream?

From Oasis, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Tupac, Sam Smith, Bonnie Raitt and Nina Simone, through to renowned Swedish acts such as Weeping Willows, Zara Larsson and Jireel - music fans can enjoy some of the world’s leading artists, all in one place. Some of the first content that can be enjoyed by fans includes ‘Queen Live at Wembley Stadium 1986’, ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’, ‘The Rolling Stones Live at Checkerboard Lounge 1981’, ‘Nina Simone Live at Montreux 1976’, and ‘Rage Against The Machine Live at Finsbury Park 2010’.

New material recently added encompasses ‘Coldplay - Live at Sao Paulo’ and ‘Melissa Etheridge - Live in LA 2014’. There is also forthcoming content from Tina Turner, R.E.M, New Order and Depeche Mode. New concerts are added to Staccs every week, which have been carefully selected by a team of music enthusiasts. As well as adding concert material, music documentaries are also added.

What advice would you give to any startup just setting out?

Absorb everything. You will learn so much on the journey of creating a startup and getting it to market. There will be so many learnings along the way that you will be able to use these to improve the plans ahead. Don’t worry if you don’t know the answer to a particular challenge and try to use the expertise around you to help instruct what your solutions will be.

Lastly, be patient. Success will not happen overnight. Instead of thinking what can happen in 6 months, consider what can be achieved in 1-2 years then reflect where you started the journey to see how things have progressed significantly. Creating a successful startup is about building a company brick by brick.
