Almond Impact exceeds crowdfund goal of £500k
Almond Impact is overfunding, having surpassed their funding goal of £500,000 in a pre-launch crowdfund which has so far attracted over 400 investors.
Almond is a platform that helps individuals and businesses understand, reduce and offset their carbon footprint. With carbon analytics powered by the WWF and Stockholm Environment Institute, their mission is to empower 100 million people globally to reach carbon ‘Net-Zero’ in the next decade.
Oliver Bolton, Chief Executive, commented: “We are delighted to have gone well beyond our fundraising target and have been blown away by the level interest and support received from the Crowdcube community.”
“This pandemic gave us a chance to reconnect with nature, and now an overwhelming 91% of us want life post Covid-19 to be different. We have a unique opportunity to ‘reset’ the nature of consumption and reduce our impact on the natural world. At Almond we want to create a more conscious, green economy and are excited that so many have invested and are keen to support us in this mission.”
Due to launch this summer, the Almond platform has already signed-up over 55 brand partners with a combined customer base of 7.5 million people, including established brands like Interrail, Monica Vinader, JoJo Maman Bebe and The Body Shop. Meanwhile, Almond’s pre-launch app has secured over 3,500 beta users with representation from 79 countries around the world.
Early Almond Investor, Erik Christofferson, added: “Today’s green economy is worth $4 trillion in revenue, projected to reach $12 trillion by 2030. Meanwhile, the voluntary offset market which was valued at $300 million in 2018 has grown over 140-fold in the past decade. I believe Almond is extremely well-positioned to be at the forefront of both these rapidly growing markets.”
Gabriela Vinader, COO at Monica Vinader, an Almond brand partner said: “Almond allows us to connect our customers with our social and environmental work on a greater level”
Oliver Bolton said: “At the heart of the issue we’re tackling is the fact 70% of the global population are concerned about climate change, yet less than 0.1% of us know our carbon footprint - and even fewer take action. At Almond we believe driving people from caring to doing and towards climate action presents both a huge challenge and huge opportunity. As we recognise we can’t do this alone - we’re building a community of like-minded people, brands and partners united in a collective desire to reduce carbon emissions. That’s why this crowdfund is so important - we hope that others will consider joining us from as little as £12.”
