At ISE 2026, Managing Editor Paige Hookway interviews Mats S. Elvestuen, VP of Sales at Waved, to explore how it enhances guest experience with AI volume automation.
Waved technology provides an automated music volume control system designed to improve the guest experience in venues such as hotels and restaurants. Its system uses small sensors that are placed around a space, and they sense the mood and behaviour of guests, including how busy or lively the environment is. Based on this input, the technology automatically adjusts the music volume, so for example, that it is softer and more in the background during calmer periods, but more present and dominant during busier times.
The company grew out of a co-founder’s personal struggle with noisy environments due to being deaf in one ear, which led to experiments with simple reactive sound systems and eventually to a professional, sensor-driven solution for hospitality.
Waved positions itself as filling a gap in an industry where many aspects of operations are already automated, but audio levels are still often managed manually. In using a novel mood- and behaviour-based approach, the company aims to become the new industry standard for automated ambience in hospitality spaces.
