AI-powered VOR leverages Astrophysics to Tailor Workouts for Healthcare and Fitness
Founder of Another Round and former MMA fighter, Max Cotton, has announced the launch of the AI-powered fitness training solution, VOR. The VOR Engine crafts fully personalised workouts for healthcare and fitness professionals to deliver in-person or online.
Since its inception in 2018, Another Round has raised over £1 million in funding, with notable backing from Peter Roberts, the former CEO of PureGym. The training platform utilises proprietary AI to enhance personal training, making it more convenient, accessible, and effective for consumers without replacing the crucial role of personal trainers.
VOR emerged from the specific challenges identified by Another Round within the industry. The decline in personal trainer businesses and the cost-of-living crisis, which has led many customers to forgo paid fitness activities, highlighted the need for a robust solution. VOR addresses these issues by providing the healthcare and fitness sector with top-tier personalised training at scale.
This AI-powered platform increases efficiency, boosts member and trainer retention, enhances engagement, and amplifies the impact of physical exercise. By offering tailored training experiences, VOR ensures that both fitness enthusiasts and professionals can thrive, even in challenging economic times.
Max Cotton, CEO of VOR states, "The technology we’ve created will allow us to expand into the global market, becoming the tool for every workout plan and empowering health professionals across various disciplines. It's about understanding the complex interplay of factors that influence a person's fitness journey. From administering doctor-prescribed exercise programs to supporting physiotherapists and gyms, our goal is to empower the sector by increasing efficiency and effectiveness.”
VOR's adaptive AI engine, inspired by astrophysics principles, addresses the challenges of scale and accessibility in the fitness sector. This technology is tailored to each business's unique training styles, customer demographics, and gym floor plans. By offering unparalleled levels of customisation, personalisation, and accuracy, VOR eliminates the need for additional hardware or a new tech stack. This innovative approach ensures that fitness businesses can seamlessly integrate VOR's capabilities, enhancing the overall training experience without disrupting existing operations.
Jesse Shanahan, VOR’s Chief Technology Officer added "Many tech startups decide they will use AI and then find a problem they can solve with it. Rather than limiting ourselves to the approaches and technology that are most in vogue right now, we found the best-fit solution for the problem, which was taking inspiration from astrophysics and building a novel approach to automation.”
VOR also recognises the potential consequences of model errors, inherent biases, or even exacerbating existing inequalities within the fitness industry. The team is therefore steadfast in its commitment to ethical AI development, ensuring human oversight is embedded at every stage of its process. The technology is designed to empower and augment human decision-making, never to replace the essential role of trainers and healthcare professionals.
"We've only just scratched the surface of what's possible when you combine the power of AI with the expertise of human trainers. We won’t stop here. Through continued research and development we will support professional trainers, businesses and the wider healthcare and fitness sector," concluded Cotton.
