Hustle Awards: Early-Stage Innovation Award

The Early-Stage Innovation Award at the Hustle Awards recognises the bold, ambitious startups that are laying the foundations for the next generation of high-growth businesses. This category celebrates innovation at its earliest and most critical stage – where entrepreneurs have an idea but not necessarily a proof-of-concept or a product to show off. We know how hard it can be to validate a business because of this, but we also know it’s important to power through.
With this award we want to shine a light on early-stage businesses and give them an opportunity to win an award without competing against businesses that may be more established.
Open to early-stage startups across all technology sectors, this Hustle Award is designed for a new startup company less than two years old, with less than 10 employees.
Tell us why you should win
When entering this category, outline why you’re entering this award and convince the judges that your entry should be considered. Judges will be judging on based on the quality of response, innovation/impact, business benefits, and substantive evidence.
Some questions to ask yourself:
- What is your product?
- What makes your solution unique compared to existing options on the market, or is this a completely new idea?
- What are your next steps to continue its development?
- What do your customers need?
- What benefit will you provide your customers?
Entering this category provides early-stage startups with invaluable visibility at such a critical point in their growth journey. Recognition from the Hustle Awards, hosted by Startups Magazine, offers third-party validation that can significantly enhance credibility with investors, partners, accelerators, and early customers. For many startups, this recognition can act as a catalyst to open doors, strengthen pitch narratives, and build confidence within the founding team.
Beyond visibility, entering the Early-Stage Innovation Award allows founders to step back and articulate their journey, vision, and impact. The application process encourages reflection on progress, milestones, and future plans – helping startups clarify their narrative and positioning within the wider ecosystem.
At a time when competition for attention, funding, and talent is intense, award recognition can provide a meaningful differentiator. Being shortlisted or winning signals that a startup has been independently assessed and recognised for its innovation and potential, helping it stand out in a crowded market.
