Purpose-driven, flexible workspace provider x+why has announced a sustained initiative to support the next generation of female leaders. The B Corp certified, impact driven business is offering one female-led startup or small business per month access to its premium facilities in major UK cities for the remainder of the calendar year.
Eight founders will be selected for a monthly resource grant between May and December as part of the new ‘Build the Future’ initiative. x+why will provide each founder with a practical ‘boost package’ including professional meeting and event space and podcast production support in any of the cities in which they are located.
Despite progress, female founders in the UK still receive just 2p for every £1 of investment, with only 3.5% of equity funding going to women-led businesses. The initiative is designed to help bridge this resource gap for female-led startups and give early-stage businesses consistent access to the tools and environments they need to grow. x+why are looking for the ‘scrappy’ startups and grassroots innovators who are doing big things with small teams.
“At x+why, we believe that business should be a force for good, and that starts with equity of opportunity,” says Cassandra Tucker, Chief Operating Officer. “We recognise that growth doesn’t happen in a single day and didn’t want to just celebrate International Women’s Day for 24 hours. By offering these resources every month for the rest of the year, we are providing a consistent platform for female-led businesses to scale, record, and connect.”
The monthly prize for female founders includes:
- Professional platform: use of high-spec meeting rooms in London, Manchester, Birmingham, or Milton Keynes for investor pitches or strategy days
- Community connection: dedicated networking space to host a community-led event or workshop and build a network
- The power of voice: a dedicated session in a professional podcast studio at x+why Arding & Hobbs in Clapham Junction, to help the brand reach a wider audience
