Treble raises €11m in Series A round to scale sound simulation platform

Treble Technologies, a startup in sound simulation and synthetic audio data generation, has secured €11 million in a Series A funding round.

The round was led by KOMPAS VC, a venture capital firm specialising in the built environment, with additional investment from Iceland’s Frumtak Ventures, the European Investment Bank, Omega Venture Partners, and strategic partners St. Gobain and L-Acoustics, as well as seasoned angel investors. The funds will be directed towards expanding Treble’s team, boosting research and development, acquiring new enterprise clients, and entering new markets.

Traditionally, designing acoustics for buildings, vehicles, and technology products has been a costly challenge, largely due to the absence of user-friendly, accurate simulation tools that can seamlessly integrate into the design process. When these designs fail to meet acoustic standards, rectifying them can be both time-consuming and expensive. The World Health Organization has identified noise as the second most detrimental environmental stressor to human health. Additionally, the growing demand for AI-driven audio models in areas like voice technology, generative AI, and augmented reality has been hampered by a lack of comprehensive audio training data.

Founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Dr Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, Treble Technologies launched its cloud-based platform in 2023 after nearly a decade of research. The platform is the first of its kind, offering sound simulation and synthetic audio data generation powered by proprietary technology that is over 100 times faster than existing solutions. This innovation allows industries to reduce costs while achieving superior acoustic environments, products, and services. Within a year of its launch, Treble has been adopted by some of the world’s most prominent companies in tech, construction, audio, and automotive sectors, including three of the top five global tech giants and the largest engineering consulting firms worldwide.

Dr Finnur Pind, Founder and CEO, Treble said: “The world could sound so much better than what it currently does. Our mission at Treble is to provide the software tools necessary to make the world a better sounding and less noisy place. This, in turn, will significantly improve health, well-being and productivity across the globe, and enhance people’s abilities to connect with one another. This Series A funding marks a significant moment for Treble, affirming our role as leading innovators within the audio space. Together with our partners and customers, we're now set to expand our impact, bringing superior audio solutions to users everywhere as we develop the future of sound, create more resonant spaces and deeper audio engagements.”

Commenting on the investment, Sebastian Peck, Partner, KOMPAS, added: “Our investment in Treble reflects our commitment to creating a built environment that is both healthy and sustainable. We firmly believe Treble is leading the way to a better-sounding world with its innovative technology which opens up a whole new way of prototyping and testing products. There is a very large addressable market and I’m excited to see Treble and their phenomenal team continue to make waves.”
