Steven Bartlett steps down from Huel board

Bartlett has been a long-time investor in Huel, and has held a non-executive director role at the company since February 2021.

A new filing at Companies House on the 4th February has confirmed that Bartlett, alongside fellow non-executive director Emma Woods, are no longer directors at Huel.

Reported by CityAM, a spokesperson for the company said: “Steve has recently moved to LA and is involved with so many businesses that’s it’s hard for him to commit time to a Huel board role.

“He remains an investor in the business. Emma will continue to be a supporter of Huel as she steps away from a board position.”

Bartlett’s time at Huel came with some controversy, with adverts featuring Steven Bartlett being banned in summer 2024 after it was ruled by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) that they failed to disclose their commercial relationship.

Not only this, Bartlett’s podcast had been criticised for spreading health misinformation. A BBC investigation in December 2024 revealed that Steven Bartlett amplified harmful health misinformation, and potentially undermined trust in conventional medicine. The investigation analysed 15 health-related episodes of The Diary of a CEO podcast, uncovering an average of 14 harmful health claims. These claims often contradicted scientific evidence. Examples of this included declarations that cancer can be treated with a ketogenic diet rather than proven medical treatments, anti-vaccine conspiracies, and suggestions that conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome and autism can be “reversed” through dietary changes.
