Startup providing competition in the home security space

Boundary Technologies, based in Edinburgh, is launching a Home Security Saviours campaign, in which it offers to buy out 50 of the most in-need customers stuck with traditional alarm companies.

The startup has launched the campaign to raise awareness of the need to transition from traditional burglar alarms to smart home security systems, and rescue customers whose current situation is not working for them.

What’s more, there are countless stories of customers being overcharged by home security firms for contracts they are tied in to, so this service appeals to them as well.

The average cost of a burglary in the UK is around £3,000, but larger traditional home security companies have been known to charge customers more than this for simple call outs.  For example, one such call to replace three batteries set one customer back over £4,000, rendering the cost of a callout higher than that of an average burglary.

In comparison, Boundary systems have a £0 installation cost; customers don't need to pay for a call out as they can install it themselves. The company wants to prevent any further customers suffering from daylight robbery by the traditional companies.

Boundary describes their service as one that puts customers first, and as such, has no long-term contracts, and suggest that they differ from other home security companies.

The Home Security Saviour campaign will be available to 50 eligible customers, who will each be given a free alarm system.

Those looking to sign up for the Home Security Saviours service will be asked to provide details of why their current home security situation is not working for them, and why they need Boundary to intervene.

Commenting on the new campaign, Robin Knox, CEO of Boundary, said: “We founded Boundary to disrupt an industry that has been traditionally dominated by doorstep sales, non-transparent pricing and long contract periods. We are a business that prides itself on customer experience, which is why we would never resort to tactics such as these extortionate callout rates. We want to help not only those affected by hidden charges, but also those currently relying on an outdated, more ‘traditional’ alarm system that brings no added value.”
