SolarEdge Buys EV Charging Software Firm Wevo Energy
SolarEdge Technologies, an innovator in smart energy solutions, has unveiled the successful acquisition of Wevo Energy's entire share capital.
Wevo, a pioneering software startup, focuses on optimising and managing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging for locations with extensive EV charging facilities such as residential complexes, workplace parking areas, and public charging sites.
The software crafted by Wevo is vendor-neutral and upholds industry-standard open protocols. It facilitates versatile features like multi-user pricing and billing, hierarchical charging schedule prioritisation, predictive load management, alongside a spectrum of other services. Wevo has successfully electrified numerous parking spaces across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. The startup's technology is already harmonised with SolarEdge's EV chargers, solar inverters, and meters, providing a comprehensive real-time perspective of solar output, grid usage, and EV charging.
Furthermore, Wevo's solution will be incorporated into the SolarEdge ONE energy optimisation system for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector. This integration aims to furnish SolarEdge clientele with a unified energy optimisation solution that coordinates and amalgamates on-site solar production, battery storage, and extensive EV charging operations.
Zvi Lando, CEO, SolarEdge Technologies, said: “This acquisition represents the continuation of SolarEdge’s strategy to enhance its software portfolio for the C&I segment. We are excited for Wevo to join the SolarEdge team following our initial investment and the impressive progress it has demonstrated over the past year. As the EV market continues to grow, distributed renewable energy will be key to unlocking the full potential of the electrification of mobility. Wevo’s software capabilities and know-how represent a building block for EV-attached solar, and today it becomes a part of SolarEdge’s energy ecosystem”.
Teddy Flatau, CEO, Wevo Energy, said: "Wevo's mission is to make EV charging accessible by electrifying every parking space. As a subsidiary of SolarEdge, we will be able to develop a combined solution, offering a seamless experience for EV drivers by optimising charging with clean, solar-powered energy and maximising cost savings. This will allow a significant step forward to achieving a low-carbon future."
