Setmixer Raises $760K in Seed Round to Launch AI-assisted Music Mixing Tool
Setmixer, a UK-based platform enabling artists to record and mix their live performances with studio-quality sound, has secured $760,000 in a seed funding round led by Raw Ventures.
This investment will support the launch of their AI-assisted mixing process, designed to produce flawless results for immediate releases and preserve live performances from being lost.
The company offers a distinctive service where live performances are recorded in full multitrack studio quality and mixed using their instant automix process. Setmixer's innovative recorder, permanently linked to the mixing desks of partner venues, ensures every artist's performance is captured in up to 64-channel studio quality. In 2023, the startup recorded over 10,000 hours of live music in this format, amounting to 1.15 years. Pascal de Mul, with his rich background from major media companies including Spotify and Deezer, founded Setmixer.
This launch addresses a key issue in the music industry: the fleeting nature of live performances. According to PwC, while physical music formats are on the decline, digital formats are expected to grow, increasing their share of recorded music revenue from 74.3% in 2022 to 80.7% in 2027.
Furthermore, a recent StubHub report highlights the value of live music experiences, especially for Gen Z, with 60% willing to miss major life events to be front row at a favorite artist's concert. Setmixer's mission is to enable artists and record labels to capitalize on future revenue opportunities while giving fans, whether present at the original performance or not, the chance to relive the live set's energy and the vibrancy of songs played live.
Pascal de Mul, Founder and CEO of Setmixer, said: “This milestone is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our remarkable team at Setmixer, and it's also a nod to the extraordinary community of artists who have played their hearts out for their fans in 7.4 million live music performances worldwide. Our mission continues: to bring Setmixer's live music recordings to every venue in the UK and beyond, empowering artists to share their performances effortlessly.”
Victoria Palatnik, Managing Partner at Raw Ventures, said: “Raw Ventures’ investment in Setmixer, alongside with the support of VGC Partners and a group of angels, aligns with our dedication to support disruptive MediaTech companies.
