reMarkable unveils reMarkable Paper Pro: world’s thinnest paper tablet with a colour display
reMarkable has introduced the reMarkable Paper Pro, a paper tablet that redefines the digital writing experience. Boasting an 11.8-inch colour display, an adjustable reading light, and an unparalleled paper-like feel, the Paper Pro is designed to support professionals in capturing and refining their ideas in an increasingly distracting world.
“Millions of people around the world rely on reMarkable to find focus and do their best work,” said Phil Hess, CEO of reMarkable. “reMarkable Paper Pro makes the experience even better, adding just enough technology to your workflow without getting in your brain’s way. We’ve built upon the success of reMarkable 2 to create a device that offers the best writing and reading experience ever on a paper tablet.”
For the first time in a reMarkable tablet, users can now write and read in colour, thanks to the innovative Canvas Color display, custom-engineered by reMarkable. This new feature opens up fresh possibilities for visualising and organising thoughts – whether signing documents in blue, editing reports in red, or adding vibrant yellow highlights to notes. The display offers nine distinct writing colours that can be blended or layered, and supports thousands of colours for reading.
Unlike other tablets, which use filters on black-and-white screens to produce colour, the Paper Pro's display utilises coloured ink particles that move within the screen to render text and drawings. The result is a natural, paper-like quality reminiscent of a printed newspaper.
Unlike traditional LCD or LED screens that rely on backlighting, the Canvas Colour display reflects natural light, creating a comfortable reading experience without the flicker or glare typical of digital devices. Additionally, an adjustable reading light ensures optimal visibility in low-light settings, allowing users to work for extended periods without eye strain.
The reMarkable Paper Pro sets new standards for performance, offering 40% lower latency compared to its predecessor, with an ultra-responsive 12 ms delay. The screen is also 30% larger, providing more space for ideas, while the reduced gap between the pen tip and digital ink offers a more precise writing experience, with a distance of less than 1mm.
“reMarkable Paper Pro uses advanced technology to recreate something unimaginably complex yet incredibly simple: the feeling of putting pen to paper,” said Mats Herding Solberg, chief design officer of reMarkable. “It’s perfect for anyone who wants to bring the focus and clarity you get from working on paper into the digital age.”
The reMarkable Paper Pro offers a powerful suite of digital tools, making it an ideal choice for professionals seeking a seamless, organised workflow. With a variety of built-in templates for everything from team meetings to task lists, users can hit the ground running. Folders, tags, and virtually unlimited pages ensure notes and documents remain neatly sorted and easily accessible. The new Markers and Type Folio keyboard allow for effortless integration of handwritten and typed notes on the same page, and the ability to sync with desktop and mobile apps ensures uninterrupted productivity across devices.
To safeguard sensitive information, the reMarkable Paper Pro includes advanced security features. Files are automatically encrypted, and secure boot technology prevents tampering with software. Users can further protect their device with a personal passcode, and data remains secure both during file transfers and when stored.
The sleek design of the Paper Pro is inspired by the simplicity of a fresh stack of blank pages, with an anodised aluminium and glass construction. At just 5.1mm thick, it is the slimmest device in its category, yet its battery lasts up to two weeks on a single charge. To add a personal touch, users can choose from a range of protective folios available in six colours and finishes.
