Plexal and Google Cloud partner to unlock innovation for security startups
Innovation and growth company Plexal is collaborating with Google Cloud to provide fast-moving, security-focused startups developing breakthrough technologies with access to a breadth of resources unlocking the potential of Google Cloud. This will include support around AI innovations, which can support founders with product development, go-to-market strategies and operating model design.
Plexal was recognised by Google Cloud for its track record in accelerating the pull-through and adoption of novel technology solutions, having delivered for organisations including the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Airbus Defence and Space. The company’s startup scouting and ecosystem-building expertise will be pivotal in bringing Google Cloud’s technology to leading security startups across the UK.
Over the next six months, Google Cloud and Plexal will host events to build a community of security innovators working to solve the complex problems that will enhance security and resilience at a local, national and global level. Doors will be opened to those selected for programme participation at Google and Plexal venues in London and Cheltenham, which has a thriving cybersecurity community and is also home of GCHQ.
The benefits for chosen startup founders will include:
- Dedicated package of Google Cloud credits to enable founders to cost-effectively experiment, build and scale their businesses
- Learning resources including hands-on labs, exclusive workshops, access to Google Cloud experts and live in-depth classes to help startups build with the latest generative AI solutions, including Gemini
- Access to a dedicated Startup Success Manager, giving founders a single point of contact for all things Google
- Discounts on Google products, including Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Meet), Google Maps Platform, and more
Dave Rowley, Senior Director of Go-to-Market at Plexal, said: “The challenge that startups face is a fragmented market, complex procurement and limited access to end users. Navigating defence and national security requirements and building trust with decision-makers takes time – time many early-stage companies can’t afford. This slows innovation adoption and ultimately puts UK resilience at risk.
“Our partnership with Google Cloud brings the scale, reach and credibility startups need. Plexal provides deep sector access, delivery experience and a proven track record in dual-use innovation. Together, we can accelerate market readiness, unlock routes to deployment and drive faster adoption of UK-grown solutions that strengthen our national security.”
Darren Mowry, Vice President, Global Startups at Google Cloud, added: “Plexal is already helping startups at all stages of growth access Google Cloud’s technologies and support network. This includes our latest models like Gemini 2.5, our AI-optimised infrastructure, important mentorship, go-to-market support, and more. By working with partners like Plexal, we can help more security-focused startups innovate with AI and get products to market more quickly.”
