Impact Brixton shortlisted for Small Business Britain award

Impact Brixton based in South London has been shortlisted for the Mission Possible Award at this year’s Small Awards, organised by Small Business Britain.

Now in its seventh year, The Small Awards is a nationwide search for the smallest and greatest firms in the UK, across all sectors. It is organised annually by Small Business Britain, which champions, inspires and accelerates the nation’s 5.5 million small firms.

Impact Brixton is a social enterprise dedicated to creating real social impact. Launched in 2014, it provides affordable hot-desking, virtual office, event space, networking events and training programmes to budding entrepreneurs in Lambeth. Since its founding, Impact Brixton has served as a launching pad for over 5,500 creators and 2,000 startups, driving an incalculable boost in local employment, wellbeing, innovation, and economic growth.

Impact Brixton has been chosen as one of just eight finalists for the Mission Possible award for best social enterprise. This award recognises small businesses that are driven by their mission over and above financial performance, and that benefit a group, a community or society more widely.

“The Small Awards is all about celebrating the incredible small business owners who are at the heart of the economy and communities,” said Michelle Ovens CBE, Founder of Small Business Britain. “They are an opportunity to recognise and applaud the passion and tenacity of the nation’s small firms, particularly during such turbulent times. Impact Brixton should be incredibly proud of being shortlisted for this award and we can’t wait to celebrate with them in May.”

Out of all the awards we have been nominated for, this one feels really rewarding – because running a small social enterprise can really feel like mission impossible!” said Gerald Vanderpuye, Founder of Impact Brixton. “We're so grateful to the Small Awards for recognising and celebrating our community and social impact. We can't wait to meet all the other brilliant businesses nominated in May!”

Judged by a panel of industry experts, the winners of all categories, along with the overall winner of Small Business of the Year, will be announced at a glittering awards night in London on 18 May 2023.

The ceremony will this year be held at St Mary’s Church in London, with plans underway for a night of entertainment, inspiration and celebration for UK’s greatest small businesses.
