The Future of Capitalism Competition

The first-ever Future of Capitalism Competition, founded by The Leo Lion Company, took place on the 8th February, and the Startups Magazine team were lucky enough to attend and celebrate with the winners.

The Leo Lion Company “want to invest in tech startups who share our ethos, which aims to reconnect company success with social progress.” And the company did just that, offering nine technology startups the chance to pitch at The Future of Capitalism Competition for the chance to win up to $5 million.

Re-Fresh Global

Re-Fresh Global is a German-Israeli CleanTech company that has developed a unique patented and proprietary chemical process to transform textile waste into high-quality materials at scale.

The company's 100% recycled textile products are employed in a variety of use cases, including automotive manufacturing, construction materials, and commercial interior materials for Volkswagen Group, MEAVO, and other clients. Re-Fresh Global materials are highly flexible and easily customised to meet performance requirements while helping customers meet increasingly stringent sustainability and regulatory necessities.

Dannce.AI

Dannce.AI is a HealthTech startup that utilises deep learning technology called DANNCE, which analyses patient videos for signatures of disease and quantifies a patient’s response to treatment.

This approach, supported by patent protection and a team of experts in behavioural analysis from Harvard and Duke, has proof of concept quantifying Parkinson’s, Autism, and Strokes, with over 10,000 hours invested in its development. DANNCE offers a non-invasive means of capturing rich behavioural data for clinicians and drug developers, enabling them to uncover previously hidden information and facilitating access to quality neurological care.

Hormony

Hormony is a HealthTech startup focused on empowering women to effectively navigate the challenges of Perimenopause. Its mission is to provoke, normalise, and own the conversation around Perimenopause. It is dedicated to supporting women through this transformative phase with a blend of innovation, expert knowledge, and a community.

It aims to provide women with accessible hormonal health by enabling them to monitor, measure, and manage, through an integrated and ultra-personalised approach by combining at-home hormone testing with AI-driven analytics.

Vocadian

Vocadian is a Harvard-MIT-founded HealthTech startup. Its groundbreaking predictive fatigue risk management aims to empower a safer, healthier, and more productive workforce with evidence-based voice AI.

Vocadian believes that voice biomarker technology and circadian care will lead a paradigm shift in improving organisational health and workforce safety and productivity. The startup mainly targets frontline workers and organisations in high-stakes safety-sensitive industries, such as transportation & logistics, mining, construction, aviation, and healthcare.

Dapio

Dapio is a FinTech startup that is unlocking omnichannel integrated payment opportunities for enterprises, individuals, industrial sectors, small businesses, emerging markets, and startups alike.

CloudFO

CloudFO is a FinTech startup that has developed an AI finance colleague that takes the time and complexity out of managing a company’s finances.

Acting as a ‘CFO’ the programme will automatically visualise and interpret your income, expenses and business performance. Anything you don’t monitor you can’t manage. Your CFO will notify you, so you can take action before you run out of money.

Enlipsium

Enlipsiumis a startup with a vision to ensure that all cancer patients will receive safe and effective treatment.

It is working to build a new generation of X-ray detectors, which lowers X-ray exposure, increases scan rate, and improves precision. Founded in 2020 as an advanced material startup, Enlipsium currently holds 3 patents in the area of perovskite and luminescent materials.

Enlipsium is building:

  • Naneos materials to develop X-ray imaging devices of the future
  • Polyipnos luminescent materials to ensure supply chain accountability and that customers' products are always protected against counterfeiting
  • Enlit range of products providing sustainable and innovative solutions, improving efficiency in manpower-reliant industries such as Building and Construction.

Edulis

Edulis is a HealthTech startup aiming to revolutionise gastrointestinal medicine with its endoscopic drug delivery system, which is set to impact over 1 million patients in the US alone, improving their quality of life with sustained, maintenance-free medication.

Global Nano Network

Global Nano Network is a tech startup innovating the battery industry by making lithium-ion and next-generation batteries better, safer and greener. It aims to develop an eco-friendly battery that meets all the current requirements of the next industrial revolution, where one of the world’s major needs is to reduce the levels of CO2 emissions, the dependence on fossil fuels, and the indiscriminate use of highly dangerous and polluting materials.

And the winner is…

Each of the startups that made it to the final of the Future of Capitalism Competition 2024 was worthy of winning, but the judges had the final decision to make. So, who would be going home with up to £5 million in funding?
