Female Founders Day: Event Empowers Women Entrepreneurs with Innovation, Partnership, and a £5K Cash Prize
Female Founders Day is back again. It's a free event designed to celebrate women entrepreneurs and leaders through an investor panel, pitch competition, and networking opportunities. This is the second time London Venture Capital Network (LVCN) is running the event and this year LVCN is proud to partner with Microsoft for Startups (Headline Sponsor), Barclays Rise, and NEXUS. It's a day packed with unparalleled opportunities to make connections and drive innovation in women's entrepreneurship—plus a chance to win a £5K cash prize.
In an environment where collaboration is key, Female Founders Day brings together senior women investor speakers. Last year, senior investors from LocalGlobe, Gresham House Ventures, HSBC Innovation Banking, Apposite Capital, and Ascension gave their perspectives on the opportunities for women seeking venture funding. This year, an interactive discussion and an exciting pitch competition will again spotlight the challenges and triumphs of female-led startups in the UK. Embracing LVCN's interest in supporting British innovation, the event is a platform for trailblazing women to showcase their businesses and gain exposure.
The investor panel will feature speakers from a variety of backgrounds including: DTCP (growth equity), Angel Academe (angel investing), Howden Ventures (venture capital), Visionary Future (venture studio), as well as a moderator from The Hill App (funding platform).
The pitch competition is open to all female founders with businesses at pre-seed and seed stage. Eight finalists will be selected to deliver a 3-minute pitch followed by Q&A from an industry expert panel, with the winner receiving a £5K cash prize to fuel their growth.
The companies selected to pitch this year include: Data Dumpling; Amilis; THE FASHION BLUEPRINT; Occasio Insights; OTTAN; Zest; Seventy Eight; and, AugmentAero. The judging panel includes representatives from Microsoft for Startups, NEXUS, and Global Tech Advocates.
This year, key industry partners Microsoft for Startups, Barclays Rise, and NEXUS are joining forces to amplify the event's impact. Their support underscores a shared commitment to fostering diversity, driving technological innovation, and creating sustainable opportunities for female founders.
“Microsoft for Startups is delighted to collaborate with LVCN to deliver this event. Microsoft has a longstanding commitment to supporting women founders in the UK, and as we strive to strengthen our partnerships with local startup-enabling organisations, LVCN emerged as the ideal choice”.
- Nathan Jordan, Senior Manager, Underrepresented Groups
“At NEXUS, we're deeply committed to driving meaningful change in the entrepreneurial landscape for women," says Mark Sarfo-Kantanka, CEO of NEXUS. "With 40% of our member businesses being female-led, we've seen firsthand the incredible innovation women entrepreneurs bring to the table. Yet, the funding disparity remains shocking. That's why we're proud to support initiatives like Female Founders Day—creating platforms that spotlight these talented founders and connecting them with the resources, networks, and capital they need to scale. We have a shared vision with LVCN, of building a more equitable startup ecosystem where female-led businesses have every opportunity to succeed."
"London VC Network is proud to stand behind our mission of improving access to VC. Last year, the winner of our pitch competition went on to successfully raise a Series A and scale their business nationally. Female Founders Day is an incredible platform for innovative women to connect with investment opportunities, network with supportive peers, and promote an inclusive entrepreneurial landscape in the UK.”
