Ethical Christmas Gift Guide from Startups on Santa's Nice List
With one month to go until Christmas, social impact accelerator and mentor network, Impact Central, has released its top fifteen picks for ethical Christmas gifts for this season - from planet-friendly stocking filler snacks to sustainable menswear staples.
Impact Central have collaborated with some of the many companies doing social good who have been through their startup accelerator programme, to highlight how shoppers can buy more ethically this year.
“We are so proud to work with some amazing entrepreneurs who truly are putting impact over profits,” said Impact Central, Co-founder Sara-Louise Martin. “This time of year is a fantastic opportunity to highlight some of these startups, as well as give consumers a chance to get to know new brands and really #shopwithimpact this Christmas.”
The Impact Central gift guide includes items for all budgets and styles, such as a hand-wash and lotion set made with essential oils from the base of Mount Kenya, from ethical online shop Akojo Market, perfect for a year where washing our hands has been top of everyone’s to-do list. Profits from this set help create jobs for Kenyan women and education for their children.
The guide also features jewellery brand Recognised’s gold alphabet pendants, the profits of which go towards supporting those affected by cancer, as well as snack-on-a-comeback roasted fava beans from PULSITOS, a planet-friendly snack for 2021 healthy habits, profits of which go to planting new trees in the UK.
Also in the gift guide is a 2020 must-have, a sustainable print face mask from ethical clothing label Fanfare, made from 100% cotton and fabric waste.
“After everything 2020 has thrown at us, there’s a greater feeling of community and ‘we’re-all-in-this-together’-ness this year,” continued Sara-Louise. “So we feel that it’s more important than ever to celebrate small businesses that are thriving and giving back to the global community at the same time.”
The Ethical Christmas Gift Guide will be officially launched on Thursday 3rd December 2021, at the Impact Central 2020 showcase - an online evening event celebrating even more founders of impact startups who have been through Impact Central’s accelerator programme. Tickets are free and available via Eventbrite.
