DataSnipper and Microsoft jointly bring AI agents to audit and finance

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries worldwide, DataSnipper and Microsoft have announced a new collaboration that will introduce AI agents into the audit space, fundamentally changing the way professionals work.

The new in-development AI agents, powered by Microsoft Azure, will embed directly into audit workflows to drive productivity, eliminate repetition, and accelerate reviews. They will be designed specifically for the demands of audit and finance and function as teammates, not tools.

DataSnipper is already transforming the world of audit and finance with its industry-defining suite of intelligent automation tools supercharging productivity and allowing audit and finance professionals focus on detailed, complex questions that yield tailored insights in seconds. What once took hours of checking, re-checking, and follow-ups now takes a single query with AI-powered products such as DocuMine.

“The promise of AI agents in audit and finance is immense and we’re incredibly excited about what we’re building together with Microsoft,” said Vidya Peters, CEO of DataSnipper. “This will be a major leap forward in the future of agentic AI for the sector, elevating how regulated teams think, work, and deliver.”

The AI agent will operate as a layer across DataSnipper’s features, allowing users to ask questions throughout the workflow, such as:

“What evidence do I need to collect to perform a SOC2 user access control?”

“Can you extract the right evidence related to the SOC2 control and match them to my sample list?”

“Are there any documents with risks that need my additional attention?”

“As the ecosystem of agentic commerce execution evolves, software development must evolve with it,” said Thilo Richter, VP of Product & Engineering at DataSnipper. “With DataSnipper Agents running on Azure, we want to empower auditors with agents that work alongside them to automate critical audit tasks.”

Strong momentum for AI products

This focus on agentic AI comes at a time when customer demand for AI-powered workflows is rapidly growing. Fifty-eight percent of DataSnipper’s new customers now favour packages with AI products, demonstrating strong momentum and providing a clear foundation for further investment in Agent capabilities. Audit and finance teams increasingly seek tools that not only improve speed but also integrate seamlessly into workflows, ensuring compliance while driving productivity.

“This new partnership announcement with DataSnipper reflects our commitment to delivering specialised AI solutions that drive productivity and intelligent automation in complex, high-trust environments," said Adir Ron, Cloud & AI Director for Startups in EMEA at Microsoft. "By joining forces and leveraging the strength of Microsoft Azure, we are enabling a new class of AI agents that streamline critical audit processes, integrate naturally into enterprise workflows.’’

AI adoption continues to accelerate

New data reveals the profession is moving ahead fast. AI adoption is surging and the need for intelligent, secure solutions has never been clearer. DataSnipper’s 2025 ‘AI in Audit & Finance’ report shows that AI is no longer simply gaining ground in accounting, it’s reshaping the profession from the bottom up.

Seventy-eight percent of audit and finance professionals now trust AI, up from 74% in 2023. Teams aren’t waiting for approval: 66% say at least half their colleagues are using AI tools – many without formal support. The business case is clear – 86% would stay longer at companies offering strong AI tools and 91% expect AI usage to grow significantly over the next two years.
