Crypto Quantique, ZARIOT, and Kigen Unveil Quantum-Safe Hardware Root-of-Trust for IoT
Crypto Quantique, a company in quantum-driven security for IoT, has joined forces with cellular IoT connectivity provider ZARIOT and eSIM vendor Kigen.
Together, Kigen, ZARIOT, and Crypto Quantique are pioneering the use of hardware root-of-trust as a viable alternative for securing enterprise IT in the quantum-safe era. This global collaboration leverages IoT-SAFE to harness the hardware root-of-trust in any SIM, granting native access to quantum-safe technology for the first time.
This innovation fundamentally transforms how enterprises can utilise SIMs, eSIMs, or iSIMs to work seamlessly with Crypto Quantique’s solutions, ensuring full security for authentication, encryption, and service acceleration.
The importance of this development is underscored by the increasing need for resilient IoT security features, driven by directives such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act. The timing of this partnership is crucial, as the Cellular IoT industry is poised for hyper-growth, with projections estimating over 6 billion devices by 2028.
Each partner plays a vital role in addressing this security challenge. Kigen’s SIMs are fully certified under the GSMA Security Accreditation Scheme for both production (SAS-UP) and management (SAS-SM).
Crypto Quantique provides an embedded code baseline for host microcontrollers that utilise the IoT-SAFE applet on the SIM, offering cellular IoT devices native access to their security technology. This ensures a secure connection between the device, Crypto Quantique’s QuarkLink IoT security management platform, and cloud services. By leveraging Kigen’s IoT-SAFE applet, based on GSMA standards, the SIM in any form factor acts as a hardware root-of-trust.
ZARIOT brings flexibility, security, and comprehensive support, enabling customers to use telecom network tools like IoT-SAFE to innovate and secure new products. By integrating both in-house and partner features into the SIM, ZARIOT transforms it into a secure, intelligent, and independent processor.
Dr Shahram Mossayebi, co-founder and CEO of Crypto Quantique says: “We are thrilled to join forces with ZARIOT and Kigen in this exciting new partnership. By using ZARIOT’s flexible connectivity tools, leveraging Kigen’s IoT-SAFE in a novel way on their certified eSIM technology, we are able to provide cellular IoT devices with a hardware root-of-trust, hugely raising the standard of IoT security that will protect device networks.”
