Businesses urged to embrace green technologies

A government call for the UK to future-proof its economy by investing in cutting-edge green technologies has been welcomed by the boss of a solutions company.

Eddie Black, who is the Founder and Managing Director of Eco Group, said it was vital that businesses of all sizes seized the opportunity to ensure a resilient, sustainable future.

He is encouraging businesses to drive innovation in the sector by embracing new ideas and sharing knowledge and expertise.

His comments come after International Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch told the Green Trade and Investment Expo in Gateshead, Tyne, and Wear, on Tuesday (November 1), that new technologies to combat climate change are creating high-paying skilled jobs while providing a route to future energy security.

In her speech, Ms Badenoch said now was the time to future-proof the economy by investing in cutting-edge green technology, protecting long-term energy security, and creating thousands of jobs in industries of the future. She highlighted the UK’s success over the past two years in securing almost £20 billion in green inward investment, creating more than 11,000 new jobs.

Eco Group creates and delivers solutions for businesses and organisations across the UK from its base in Annan, Dumfries, and Galloway. The firm launched its EcoGoZero range of carbon mitigation strategies earlier this year and works collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their net zero goals by finding the right solutions for them.

Eddie said: “The climate crisis is the biggest challenge facing our generation. It demands action and the time to act is now.

“By getting involved in the conversation, adopting new practices and technologies, and making net zero ambitions part of your ethos, you can make a positive impact which will be of value to your business, your industry and the environment.

“We’re passionate about engaging with businesses and organisations to help make that positive difference. I spoke at COP26, have taken part in podcasts, and have conversations every single day with clients, suppliers, and other businesses about how they work towards climate change ambitions.

“We’re working with partners on some exciting, innovative developments in the industry as well as embedding new technologies within Eco Group. Businesses need to do their research and get involved or they risk being left behind.

“The climate emergency has created new opportunities to collaborate, to adopt new technologies, and to create new industrial sectors with well-paid jobs. It’s about doing business for good, which is good business.”
