$15,000 startup pitching competition announced for Newconomics Lisbon

Newconomics, the brand new web3 event in Lisbon this November is running an exciting startup pitch competition where participants can win a share of $15,000 to get their business off the ground.

Newconomics is run by HUMAN Protocol, the decentralised, open-source platform where people can request or contribute to tasks, and it is hosting the startup competition not only to provide grant money but to connect innovators with networks, leaders and mentors who will be in attendance.

The competition will pit 20 innovative startups to the challenge of sharing their vision, creativity and future thinking around the central themes of the intersection of blockchain, future economies and AI. This competition is a collaboration between Human Protocol and three of Lisbon's most forward-thinking startup communities; Future Founders, Poolside and AgileGTM.

The judging panel, through two rounds of the competition, include Sam Weeks of Google Cloud, Filippo Chisari of AgileGTM, Sarah Gottwold of Blockchain Founders Group, Alex Newman of HUMAN Protocol, Yan Ketelers of Polkastarter and Jonny Stuart of Future Founders.

Judges will be looking for solutions that use web3 or AI to revolutionise the way we collaborate, create and interact.

Located at Lx Factory in Alcântara, Lisbon, the event will include 12 talks and panels over two days and a pitching contest to show off practical innovation on the blockchain. By using a secure, decentralised network, businesses and organisations can explore a whole new way of working with anyone anywhere.

Alongside the competition, visitors will be able to hear from guest speakers at the event include Sam Weeks of Google, Erika Decker Wykes-Sneyd of Adidas, Cyrus Fazel of Swissborg, Jason Fox of SAS Who Dares Wins, Lauren Ingram from Women of Web3 and more speakers to be announced.

The guests will be talking about a range of exciting topics from ways in which DeFi can be democratised, how web giants work with emerging trends, creating new economies and the impact this can have on the lives of millions of people, understanding global challenges, AI and collective intelligence and how the next billion dollar platform can be created while respecting user data. Maxime Sebti, Growth Director at HUMAN Protocol says, “The startup competition is one of my favourite parts of this event. Being able to provide a platform for innovators is a great way to celebrate the community and work on new ways to develop economic structures of the future."
