Small Business Saturday continues nationwide Out and About tour

Small Business Saturday is continuing its Out and About tour this month, a non-commercial campaign to highlight small business success and encourage consumers to ‘shop local’.

Out and About was launched in partnership with BT. The tour started last month in Wrexham and will visit spots including Birmingham, Belfast and Manchester throughout November, ending in Glasgow at the beginning of December.

The Small Business Saturday team will meet business owners across the country, sharing their stories, celebrating their contributions to local communities, and hearing their plans for Small Business Saturday on 5th December.

Small Business Saturday will also offer cyber security guidance for small businesses, as research by the team found that 48% of UK small businesses would be more likely to improve cyber security if they saw other small businesses doing so successfully.

Alongside Out and About, the campaign will also host its Webinar Series – a month of free, daily expert-led webinars covering key issues impacting small businesses, including marketing, finance and exporting.

“The UK is a nation of small businesses, and the Small Business Saturday campaign is all about championing the diverse range of incredible UK founders across the country,” said Michelle Ovens CBE, director of Small Business Saturday UK.

Chris Sims, Chief Commercial Officer, UK Business at BT, said: “We know that small businesses face the same cyber threats as larger organisations, often without the same time or resources – which is why we’re also using these sessions to provide clear, practical guidance to help businesses build their cyber confidence and know how to respond if something goes wrong.”
