Lightspeed launches $250Mn AI fund in India and SE Asia
TechCrunch reported that venture capital firm Lightspeed has launched a new AI fund in India and Southeast Asia, according to an investor letter and an earlier US regulatory filing.
Dubbed Lightspeed India Partners V, the fund will be expected to begin investing within two months.
This comes after the firm raised $500m for its regional fund in 2022. It has also been reported that 80% of the fund has been committed. The letter said that Lightspeed will align its India funds with its global fundraising cycle.
The new fund is smaller because of its current investment pace and a shorter investment period of two and a half years. The announcement comes after India recently issued AI governance guidelines in 2026.
Lightspeed manages over $65 billion globally and raised $9 billion across new funds in December 2025.
The firm has invested in notable AI startups including Anthropic, xAI, and Databricks.
Lightspeed has also invested in Indian startups such as quick-commerce startup Zepto and audio platform Pocket FM.
The same team that led Lightspeed’s previous four India funds will manage the new fund.
