Stasher raises $3Mn in new funding

London‑founded travel‑tech company Stasher has raised £3 million to accelerate the expansion of its global luggage‑storage marketplace and growing smart‑locker network.

The new funding includes around £2 million (€2.3 million) in growth financing from lender Gilion and a £1 million strategic investment from global smart‑locker operator Hive Box. Stasher will use the capital to add more locations to its marketplace, scale marketing activity and speed up the rollout of its smart lockers across the UK and Europe.

Premier Inn is among the first major hotel groups to adopt the lockers, following a pilot at Premier Inn London St Pancras in late 2025. Stasher’s lockers are now installed across 17 Premier Inn sites in London, Edinburgh and Manchester, as well as Zedwell Trocadero at Piccadilly Circus and StayKula properties in Kensington and Birmingham. Staycity Aparthotels also use earlier Stasher locker models across UK and Irish locations.

Early results suggest strong demand. Bookings across Stasher’s locker network are growing 108% month‑on‑month, with the highest‑performing site generating £2,500 per week in revenue.

The lockers mark an evolution of Stasher’s original marketplace model. Founded in 2015 by Jacob Wedderburn‑Day and Anthony Collias, the company began as a platform connecting travellers with hotels and local businesses that had secure spare space for luggage. A decade later, Stasher’s network spans more than 10,000 locations in over 1,200 cities worldwide. The company now uses its booking and search data to identify where travellers are already seeking storage, where existing sites are reaching capacity and where demand continues beyond staffed hours — helping determine where new lockers should be deployed.

Wedderburn‑Day said the new funding will help Stasher accelerate its next phase of growth. “We’ve spent the last ten years building Stasher into a global network, and this funding gives us the firepower to accelerate the next stage of growth. We’ll be investing in adding more locations and reaching more travellers, while expanding our smart locker network where we know there is unmet demand.”

As part of its strategic partnership with Hive Box, Stasher will receive an initial batch of 100 smart lockers for deployment across the UK and Europe by mid‑2027. Hive Box will manufacture the lockers, integrating its hardware, IoT platform and remote‑management technology with Stasher’s booking system.

Hive Box is one of the world’s largest smart‑locker operators, running a network of more than 400,000 lockers across 236,000 compounds and serving 481 million consumers, with an average of 22 million parcels handled daily.

Tommy Xu, VP International Business at Hive Box, said: “By combining Hive Box’s experience in large‑scale smart‑locker infrastructure with Stasher’s strong local network, customer base and deep understanding of traveller needs, we are creating a scalable model for unattended luggage storage across the UK and Europe.”

Gilion’s venture debt will give Stasher additional capital to expand its marketplace and increase marketing activity. Fredrik Johansson, Investment Director at Gilion, said: “Stasher is a clear leader in its market, growing fast while keeping customer acquisition costs low in a very attractive segment. We’re impressed by the founders and how disciplined they’ve been in scaling the company.”

Stasher plans to expand its locker network across accommodation providers and high‑footfall travel locations, including transport hubs, visitor attractions and major leisure destinations across the UK and Europe.
